As Elinor Cleghorn, author of Unwell Women, puts it: “Medicine is every bit as social and cultural as it is scientific.” These are episodes that explore how culture, politics, and history have influenced today’s medical institution, and what needs to change to finally achieve health equity.

It explores medicine’s (male-dominated) history from the 'wandering womb' of ancient Greece up until present day to understand how this legacy currently manifests, and why women are often disbelieved about their own bodies and symptoms.

PODCAST NEWS from Podnews

• You can now officially be a podcaster - IMDb has added “podcaster” as an official profession. Here’s Adam Buxton and Simon Mayo as two examples.

• SXM Media is, once more, #1 for podcasts according to Edison Podcast Metrics data for the 12 months ending Q3/22. Spotify is down to #2, while iHeartMedia is #3. The data was produced by surveying 11,675 listeners from across the US.

• Safe and Sound, the first-ever study of brand safety and suitability from the listeners’ perspective, was released by Sounds Profitable. The study suggests that the greatest risk for brands is associating with a problematic host: but that podcasting has an advantage in not being live. 

• More than 1,000 employees at the New York Times went on strike Thursday, December 8th. Publication of The Daily was not affected.
