Why did you choose this theme?
One of my favorite things about listening to podcasts (and stories in general) is that they give us the opportunity to meet people and go to places with them we wouldn’t have gotten to otherwise. I love peeking into other people’s worlds. As a woman, stories about other women stick with me.

UncivilThe FugitiveChenjerai Kumanyika, a board member and core part of the community at The Moth, is the co-host of this brilliant series which everyone should listen to from start to finish. This episode is a riveting story about a brave woman: Ona Judge, who escaped slavery and imprisonment by none other than George Washington.
Sweet BobbySliding DoorsKirat Assi was 29 when she fell in love with the cardiologist Bobby, or so she thought. In truth, Bobby was catfishing her over a decade. Mid-way through the series, we learn who Bobby really is, and the second half of the series is an exploration about why they did it; two stories with Kirat’s open heart and and heartbreak at the center. I recommend starting with the first episode, "Sliding Doors."
Snap JudgementThe Bone Reader
“Snap Judgement” bills itself as storytelling with a BEAT and they create riveting story soundscapes. I chose “The Bone Reader” episode, which is about a the discovery of a women’s severed head and the efforts of forensic rockstars to solve the mystery of who the woman is and how she got there. The ending is like some of my favorite stories - both finished and unfinished, which I think is often the truest way to tell a story.
The Just Enough FamilyPerestroikaHost Ariel Levy follows the meteoric rise and fall of the Steinberg family, through the eyes of the maternity fashion entrepreneur Liz Lange. She takes us behind the scenes of one of America's wealthiest families in the 80s where helicopter rides and trips to Fred Leighton were the norm. Liz was eyewitness through it all and her firsthand experience takes us on a ride. Begin with the first episode, “Perestroika” and get ready for a fascinating listen.
The MothThose We've Lost
This episode, hosted by our longtime artistic director Catherine Burns, includes stories from author Elizabeth Gilbert and the late comedian Mike DiStefano, who introduce us to loved ones in their lives that have since passed away. It’s a funny, gritty episode — and it includes a tiny visit from my mom. All of the women in this episode --including my mother — are unforgettable. The podcast episode comes out on Tuesday, April 26th - the same day as our book launch!

For the first time, I feel like I can’t dirty a show’s brilliance with my shitty writing so I’m kind of speechless. Just go listen to it."🎉Congratulations to Amelia Rose Zimlich, who just celebrated 13k+ downloads of her personal journal and lifestyle podcast, C'est La Me!
