Why did you choose this theme?

The best humor punches up, not down, and so do the best podcasts. All the shows on my list acknowledge who wields the power, how that power is sometimes abused, and when we're maybe expecting way too much of those at the top. Plus, they all make me laugh out loud.

Moms for Liberty: Creepy Political Book Banning Mob

What A Creep is hosted by Sonia Mansfield and Margo Donahue. In each episode, they look at one of the world's biggest creeps, jerks, assholes, or losers, and they wrap up each episode on a warm note, highlighting a non-creep. EarBuds curator Kristen loved their recent episode about book bans and Moms for Liberty, a right-wing group of parents who are against school curriculums that mention LGBT rights, race and ethnicity, critical race theory, and discrimination.

Fad CampThe Wedding DietIn Fad Camp, hosts Conor Dowling and Grace Mulvey examine and eviscerate the fad diet industry. What makes this show especially delightful is the fact that along with all the laughter, there's also vulnerability. This episode focuses on the extremes some brides go through before their wedding day.

Daily Fail

Daily Fail is hosted by EarBuds curator Kristen Meinzer and Maura Curie and each episode dissects and laughs at three of the most outlandish stories published in the past week. This episode looks at a study that argues men are punished more for their sex lives than women.

CancelledRupert "Succession is Absolutely Not Based On Me" MurdochCancelled is a hilarious look at celebrities who've faced scrutiny in the court of public opinion, and whether or not that scrutiny is actually warranted. This episode dives into Rupert Murdoch's marriages, poor social media use, and all the ways he is just like Logan Roy from Succession.

Fixing Famous PeopleGeorge Santos with Brian MoylanIn Fixing Famous People, television producers Chris DeRosa and Dominick Pupa decide which of their imaginary celebrity clients need the most help, and hold nothing back as they take turns pitching ideas of how to best fix the famous person’s crumbling public image. They had some great ideas in "George Santos with Brian Moylan."
