Sapiens Podcast

Have you thought about what a strange, marvelous, and conflicted experience it is...to be you? We've got a lot of questions about all of it. There are playful questions about the human experience, like, why do some humans think eating insects is gross, when many others consider them a delicacy? And then there are darker questions, like as resources become more scarce globally, will humans become more or less generous? Or 40,000 years ago, when 30 known ancestral hominids (think, Neanderthals, Denisovans, Homo luzonensis) were coexisting and intermixing at the exact same time, how come they all seemed to disappear and only Homo sapiens lived on?That's why we launched a podcast, to try to answer these questions. It's called SAPIENS: A Podcast for Everything Human, and we infuse humor, creative sound design, and a year's worth of research sourced from Sapiens.org to find some of the answers. Hosts Dr. Chip Colwell and Dr. Jen Shannon interview leading experts in anthropology and provide rich analysis to share hints of insight into an ancient Incan mystery, or to help uncover where some of our cultural stigma towards differences comes from. This season, we need your help. Our 10th episode is going to be made in part by all of our listeners. We're using your questions about the human experience to build our season finale. Share the show with classrooms, teacher-friends, curious folks who like to use sentences like, "Why do you think humans ___(insert verb + noun here)___?" To participate, tweet @Sapiens_org using the hashtag #sapienspodcast or call 970-368-9730 and leave a voicemail.
