Podcasts for kids that adults won't mind (maybe even enjoy)
We're raising the next generation of podcast lovers right here, right now

Note from Arielle, EarBuds founder
Hello! I shared some news last week but am here to catch those up who may have skipped or missed. EarBuds is still going strong after 8+ years of a weekly publishing schedule (no skips!). And I Iove doing it. But I want to reach more podcast enthusiasts and soon-to-be podcast lovers. So, we’re launching spin-offs!
So far we have these topics you can check out:
EarBuds isn’t changing. This newsletter will continue as is, with our new theme each week approach. Same deal: you curate, I publish. More topics available soon.
Now, let’s meet Zoe Goldman and find out what shows she recommends⬇️
Podcast Picks Curated by Zoe Goldman
I listened to a lot of kids’ content while producing a kids’ podcast. I also have two kids, so I know the risk you run when introducing something new: you could be stuck listening to it on repeat for hours (looking at you, Disney narration of Wreck-It Ralph!). If you’re not careful, you can drive yourself crazy.
These are podcasts I’d happily listen to again and again with my kids, and sometimes even without them!
![]() If Objects Could Talk podcast cover art | If Objects Could TalkGetty’s first family podcast has plenty of silly sounds and voices, but it’s also so jam packed with facts about the ancient world that you’re sure to learn something you can use to impress people at your next dinner party (just like the Romans would! They were big dinner partiers…). If you've ever wondered how Egyptians mourned their cats or what Romans used for toothpaste, this show is for you. |
![]() Grimm, Grimmer, Grimmest podcast cover art | Grimm, Grimmer, GrimmestI am fascinated by how dark fairy tales are. This show leans into that. The style of storytelling lands it somewhere between an audio book and podcast. Host Adam Gidwitz nails the creepy narrator voice. The kid reactions to the stories that he includes are also pretty cute. Start with a story you think you know. Their first episode on Rumpelstiltskin also comes with a (very short) primer on the brothers Grimm for those who need a little refresh. |
![]() Circle Round podcast cover art | Circle RoundThis long-running show features celebs you might recognize telling folktales you probably don’t. I love listening to this because it is so calming. Kids aren’t the only ones who could benefit from a chill bedtime story. Honestly, it's hard to go wrong picking an episode here. I usually choose based on the celebrity or culture. There are so many new-to-me stories! The episodes recorded live at Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony Orchestra are a particular delight. |
![]() Smologies with Alie Ward podcast cover art | Smologies with Alie WardThese are cleaned up, shortened up versions of Alie Ward's very popular podcast Oologies. Sort of for kids, sort of for those with shorter attention spans. It's the tail-end of butterfly season here in LA, so I have to recommend the episode on lepidopterology, or the science of butterflies, which are much more disgusting than they look. |
![]() Live from Mount Olympus podcast cover art | Live from Mount OlympusWant to brush up on Greek mythology? Love radio plays? Live From Mount Olympus has you covered! They take classic Greek tales and tell them in relatable ways, without straying too far from the original stories. This one benefits from listening to a season in order since the plot progresses across the episodes. Pandora's story is a good place to start. It’s a little familiar, but full of surprises, and it’s only three episodes. |
You can curate a list for us! Learn more about that here.

![]() ECHOES OF COVENTRY podcast cover art | Echoes of Coventry is a documentary-style podcast that dives into the raw, electric legacy of the Coventry, an iconic Queens venue at the heart of New York’s 1970s glam rock and punk explosion. Through vivid interviews, rare stories, and unforgettable soundtracks, the series captures the music, mayhem, and cultural movement that launched acts like KISS and the New York Dolls, and the scene that defined a generation. |
