Why did you choose this theme?

I love podcasts that fill me with exciting ideas I never fully considered, and allow me to look at those ideas from a few different angles. This means at that at parties, I am ready to discuss a lot of ideas largely based on what I hear on podcasts.

The Disordered Cosmos and The Ethics of Astronomy W/ Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstein & Anoushka Rava

Some podcasts will arm you with jokes, some will arm you with facts, and others will help share a perspective with you. This episode does all three. Comedian and host (and our curator! woot woot!) Anthony Jeannot talks to Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstien, one of the  few Black female astrophysicists. She's also an award winning activist, and has worked closely with NASA to study some of the world's greatest mysteries. Comedian Anoushka Rava also joins in. It's a funny and informative hour that covers the ethics of astronomy, the importance of inclusivity in science, and some of the best outer space facts you've ever heard.

Host and writer Marina Franklin, Trainwreck, sits down with comedians from all walks of life to talk about the taboos in comedy. In this episode, we listen to Judy Gold, Nika King, and Alvin Irby discuss the fine line of creating comedic material and being offensive. Our curator writes: If you're sick of people complaining 'you can't say anything anymore' this is a fun episode full of rebuttals without ever feeling like it preaches to the choir.

Beautifully ComplicatedSustainability Is Complicated

Host Sheena Hunt uses the broad topic of sustainability as a way to explore self-care, building an authentic relationship with yourself, and the joy of living your life through the lens of Black Excellence. There’s a lot of focus on Issa Rae in this episode, so we're fans of this one. Listen to the full episode to learn more about sustainability as an intention and practice, rather than as a word we that's too often just thrown around. This episode makes us think of Cleo Wade's take on self-care vs. self-maintenance

Mark Asquith loves how the show dives into things he wouldn't ordinarily find interesting. The guests are so embedded in what they do and their knowledge is so niche and specific that it's hard not to find it fascinating!- Mark Asquith from the EarBuds Advisory Board
