Why did you choose this theme? 

I have an interest in this topic not just as a movie fan, but also as a podcaster. I've been producing and hosting a podcast about film history called "The Industry" for the last three years. These are five of the best podcasts about film history that I've come across (so far).

You Must Remember This“It wasn’t sexism, then”The gold standard podcast in this category, "You Must Remember This," has been creating stellar episodes about Hollywood's first century for years now. Host Karina Longworth does amazingly detailed deep dives into her season-long subjects. Start with episode one in the season on Polly Platt, the "forgotten woman."

The Plot ThickensLighting the Fire

This podcast from the movie history experts over at Turner Classic Movies is exactly what you'd expect: a well-produced series that gives great insight into its topics. Check out the first episode of season two, "The Devil's Candy," which dives into the production of the epic misfire of the 1990 film The Bonfire of the Vanities.

The Secret History of HollywoodCary: Part 1

The episodes in this series, hosted by Adam Roche, are long, wonderfully produced, epic in scope, and utterly brilliant. Check out "Cary: Part 1," a biography about Cary Grant that clocks in at over 12 hours long.

Gene and Roger"I Must Destroy Him"This narrative series from The Ringer is a wonderful look at the beloved, bickering movie critic duo Siskel & Ebert, comprised of Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert. For plenty of people like this week's EarBuds curator Dan Delgado, watching Siskel & Ebert was a formative part of being a major movie fan, and Dan found himself wanting more.

The OriginalsJoe Eszterhas: Mel Gibson's a Nazi and Brando Loved Cats Too Much

This interview series from Los Angeles Magazine is everything you want from an interview show: interesting guests who actually give out stories you will not be getting anywhere else. Check out episode five, in which host Andrew Goldman gets absolutely insane stories out of screenwriter Joe Eszterhas.

Birthright

Birthright is a show about joy and healing in Black birth that seeks to change the doom and gloom narrative in mainstream media surrounding Black maternal health. The show features positive Black birthing stories and "Restoration" episodes, in which victims of birth trauma are paired with perinatal mental health therapists as a demonstration of healing the Black birth space.
