Why did you choose this theme?

Despite not being a big sports fan, I'm a *huge* Olympics fan –– especially the summer games. Every four years I drop everything and become obsessed with all the events, from synchronized diving to the high jump to skateboarding (which is actually now an Olympic sport!). With the Tokyo Olympics starting, here are five must-listen-to podcasts to scratch the sports itch you'll surely be feeling once the summer games begin.

The Culture BarLGBTQ+ Awareness & Representation in the Arts

The Culture Bar is an in-conversation interview show shining a light on important topics in the arts and culture sector. In this episode, three guests discuss LGBTQ+ representation in the arts, share their experiences and hopes for change. This is beautifully summarised by one of the guests: "Enrich your horizons, and see that the world is much more varied than yours alone."

Where’s My Freaking Dressing Room?!Injury and IllnessDescription: This podcast gives an insight into the world of classical music and what things are really like backstage hosted by two singers Helen and Alex. This episode about injury and illness is particularly interesting as they are very open about their personal experiences, which is not something that is normally spoken about in the opera industry, and that injury should not end careers.

StanceNotions of Happiness DescriptionStance is an independent award-winning arts and culture podcast run by journalist and curator Chrystal Genesis. Edited together like a magazine, Chrystal waves together multiple interesting and pertinent topics into each episode. This episode addresses psychology of happiness, and visits an artists to talk about colours and emotion, an interview with a film director, and book recommendations.
