Is artificial intelligence making our lives easier or bringing about the end of days? The narratives around AI range from the mundane to the absurd. In this list, I have put together some episodes that demonstrate how AI is actually impacting our lives, economies, and jobs.

If there’s a sci-fi- or technology-loving bone in your body, you simply cannot miss Rose Eveleth’s "Flash Forward." This episode serves as a reality check for the state of AI technologies and humanity’s relationship with them. Citing experts, fiction pieces, and examples of early AI, Eveleth documents how realistic “conscious AI” is and how we might someday relate to it.

How AI HappensMoxie the Robot & Embodied CTO Stefan Scherer

This episode documents an inspiring use of AI technology. Moxie, a conversational AI robot aimed at teaching children social and emotional maturity, was created by a robotics and AI company called Embodied, Inc. In this episode, the company's chief technology officer explains the process of designing Moxie, including the ethical considerations around privacy and giving this technology to children.

The TWIML AI PodcastAI’s Legal and Ethical Implications with Sandra WachterEthics and privacy are of chief concern when it comes to developing AI technologies. In this episode, Sandra Wacther, an associate professor and senior research fellow at the University of Oxford, talks about her work at the intersection of law and AI. She specifically focuses on "algorithmic accountability" and explains methods that designers can use to ensure that an algorithm’s output is explainable and free from biases.
