Podcasts for Women's History Month
A listening list of podcasts to celebrate women, their stories, and their voices

Why this theme?
đđ˝For me, this month is not just about recognizing figures from the past who made a difference â itâs about acknowledging where we got things wrong and how to do better. When I started researching for my podcast, CRAMPED, about why we know so little about period pain, I scratched the surface of my assumption that medicine is equitable, and immediately got my mind blown.
Weâve been fed the story that we live in a world overrun with DEI, a world where women hold too much power. These are podcasts that will remind you of the reality â that the story being told right now is a backlash to the hard-won rights and modest gains made for womenâs rights and bodily autonomy in the last 50 years. And the fight is not over.
Podcast Picks
![]() Diabolical Lies podcast cover art | Katie and Caro are hitting my exact podcast sweet spot: theyâre research nerds, they cite their sources, they track big shifts in culture and discourse by paying attention to things most people disregard as fluff, and theyâre so fun to listen to. |
![]() Rebel Spirit podcast cover art | Akilah Hughes has created a masterpiece of a series with Rebel Spirit. She goes back to her Kentucky hometown high school, where the mascot is a Confederate general, and attempts to convince the community to change it to a biscuit. Along the way, she does deep dives into the history of the community, its current ideological makeup, and her memories of her experience being Black at a school with a racist mascot. |
![]() Sixteenth Minute (Of Fame) podcast cover art | I never considered the Hawk Tuah girl to be emblematic of the state of feminism and culture, but Jamie Loftus lays it out from an angle that fascinated me (as per usual for Jamie). What does Hawk Tuah have to do with Girls Gone Wild and early 2000s so-called feminism? More than you think! |
![]() Financial Feminist podcast cover art | Host Tori Dunlap always makes me think twice about my money stories. There are many different kinds of power, and money is a big one. Having power over your own life and real autonomy often hinges on being financially independent and being able to afford whatâs right for your life, in everything from living situations to healthcare. Do we live in a perfect system? No, but we still have to survive in the one weâve got. This conversation with Marina Gerner digs into important topics around healthcare and finances that every woman should be aware of. |
![]() CRAMPED podcast cover art | A plug for my podcast here! Specifically, the episode where we dig deep into the shocking medical research gap when it comes to studying womenâs bodies. I start with what I thought was a very simple question â âhow many people get severe period pain?â â and when that answer is impossible to find in any existing research, I dig into WHY we donât know with a data scientist. If the quality of data we have on something indicates how much we as a culture value it, what does it mean that our data about womenâs pain is almost non-existent? |
